Terms of business

Last updated: 16 September 2026. A plain-English summary of how I work. Each project also has its own written agreement, which takes priority if anything differs.

Quotes and scope

Every project has a written quote setting out the pages, features and number of revision rounds included. Extra work is quoted before it starts.

Payment

A 50% deposit is due before work begins and the remaining 50% before launch. Invoices are payable within 14 days. Care plans are paid monthly in advance. I'm not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.

Your content

You provide text, photos and logos, and confirm you have the right to use them. Delays in receiving content may move the launch date.

Ownership

Once paid in full, you own your website's design and content. Your domain is registered in your name. I may reuse general code components that aren't specific to your business.

Care plans

Care plans bought with a one-off website build roll monthly and can be cancelled with 30 days' notice. Each plan includes unlimited small updates, such as text, price, photo or opening-hours changes to existing pages. Larger work, such as new pages or features, is scoped and quoted separately, agreed first, and charged at £45 per hour where no fixed quote applies. Care & Grow additionally includes one new page or small feature each plan year, scoped like a small standalone project; it does not carry over if unused and is not exchangeable for other work or a refund. Priority turnaround on Care & Grow means requests are queued ahead of standard Website Care work; it is not a fixed response-time guarantee.

Managed monthly websites

The managed website option has a £149 setup fee and a 24-month initial term at £69 a month. It includes the Business website and Website Care. If you end the agreement during the initial term, the remaining scheduled fees are due unless the project agreement says otherwise. After 24 monthly payments, ownership of the website transfers to you and you can continue on Website Care, move the site elsewhere or stop.

Founding client offer

The founding client offer covers an Essentials website (normally £475) and the first six months of Website Care (normally £210) at no charge, for three Devon businesses accepted in total, confirmed in writing. One place has been filled, so two remain. Clients agree that the finished website may be shown as an example of my work and to provide their content and feedback promptly. Any review is voluntary and must be honest. After the first six months, Website Care continues at £35 a month only if you choose it, and the website remains yours either way.

Third-party services

Domains, business email and other paid services are itemised transparently and set up in your name wherever the provider allows. Their own terms and renewal prices apply.

Leaving

You can move your website elsewhere at any time. I'll provide a full copy of your site and help transfer your domain.

Portfolio

Unless you'd prefer not, I may show your website in my portfolio.

Liability

I take care to build reliable, secure websites but can't guarantee specific search rankings, sales or uninterrupted service from third-party providers. My liability is limited to the fees paid for the relevant work, except where the law doesn't allow this.
